Who is Narjeet
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Narjeet Sohanpal discovered a deep passion for photography when her father handed her a Yashica D medium format camera. From that moment, photography became more than just a hobby-a lifelong pursuit. What began as simple curiosity soon transformed into a way to see and understand the world through a lens.
Growing up in Nairobi, she was surrounded by a rich tapestry of life-the city’s energy, the golden hues, the vibrant markets, and the ever-changing skies. Over time, photography became her way of documenting the world-finding meaning in everyday life and revealing the beauty in the overlooked.
Her journey took her far beyond her hometown as she travelled, letting her camera guide her. Whether exploring unfamiliar streets or engaging with strangers and their stories, she found that photography was more than just a visual medium-it was a way to connect with people and places on a deeper level.
For her, photography is magic-the ability to freeze time, to preserve a moment that might otherwise slip away. Every photograph is an invitation, a way of saying, “Look at this. Feel this. Remember this.
A self-taught photographer, Narjeet immersed herself in learning the art and craft of photography. Exploring the nuances of composition and storytelling, and spent countless hours in the darkroom, watching images come to life. Through patience and dedication, she refined her skills, developing a distinct voice that blends both artistry and authenticity.
